Noreen Wejieme

[English below]  Noreen Wejieme est doctorante à l’Université de la Nouvelle-Calédonie (UNC). Le sujet de sa thèse porte sur les variations spatio-temporelles des valeurs énergétiques et nutritives et de la teneur en contaminants chez les poissons coralliens du Pacifique. Cette thèse est le point central de l’axe 2 du projet TONIC.

Elle a tout d’abord débuté ses études à l’UNC où e lle a obtenu sa licence en Science de la vie et de la Terre en 2016. Puis elle a ensuite poursuivi en master en océanographie à l’université de Liège (U-Liège) en Belgique, qu’elle a obtenu en 2020. Le titre de son mémoire portait sur la caractérisation fonctionnelle des coraux noirs du sud-Ouest de Madagascar. Avant son entrée en doctorat, elle a exercé en tant qu’auto-entrepreneur pendant un an pour l’association Pala Dalik qui s’occupe de l’observation, la sensibilisation et de la préservation du milieu marin et côtier néo-calédonien.

Noreen Wejieme is a PhD student at the University of New Caledonia (UNC). The subject of her thesis is the spatio-temporal variation of energy, nutrient and contaminant content in Pacific coral fish. Her PhD is a key-point of the axis 2 of the TONIC project.

She first started her studies at the UNC where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Life and Earth Sciences in 2016. She then continued with a Master’s degree in Oceanography at the University of Liege (U-Liège) in Belgium, which she obtained in 2020. The title of her Master’s thesis was about the functional characterisation of black corals from southwest Madagascar. Prior to her PhD, she worked as a self-employed contractor for one year for the association Pala Dalik, which is involved in the observation, awareness and preservation of the New Caledonian marine, coastal environment.
